Re: Mark Dantonio, new Mich. St. coach (?)

He brought a strong defense to Cincinnati, and he outcoached Schiano in their matchup a couple weeks ago.

Great hire by Michigan State, as long as Perles doesn't try to play coach from the luxury suites.

As hoops and Slappy noted, Dantonio is a former Saban protege, so he is in essence a Perles grand-protege. He'll get a LITTLE more leash than a complete outsider would have, but probably not much. You can take it to the bank if he has a bad season playing what Perles considers "gimmick football" (aka passing the ball more than 11 times a game), he'll be whacked, and they'll run in one of their stooges (Shurmur or Baggett). As of Jan. 1, the Perles cabal controls the board of trustees. They can fire anybody they want from the janitor up to the school president any time they feel like it (including Izzo).

He will. Why the hell else would he run for the board of trustees? Because he cares about tuition rates, law school accreditation or maintaining the status of the cyclotron program?? LMAO.

    Let's recap.

In 1982, MSU hires Perles, because he spouts a lot about being a link to the "glory days of Duffy Daugherty." (He and his cabal always fail to mention that Perles joined the Daugherty staff in 1967, by perfect coincidence the precise year the program fell completely off the end of the earth as far as being a national power was concerned.)

In 1995, Perles allows the program to completely implode, getting nailed with NCAA probation, and is finally fired. They hire Saban. Why? Because he's a Perles protege.

In 1999, Saban blows town for LSU (after demanding a new contract for the third time). They hire Bobby Williams. Why? Because he was both a Saban protege, AND a Perles protege.

Here we are again, the program has completely imploded again, they go through their complete process, and they hire Dantonio. Why? Because he's a Saban protege, who was a Perles protege.

They do this because they see Michigan do it. Bo begat Moeller, who begat Carr, yadda yadda. Guess what? MICHIGAN WINS. The Perles-Saban-Bobby Williams family tree does not. There's the difference.
Cue up the Deliverance banjo music.
