    It looks like the KC Star replaced Passan in-house for the national baseball beat, but I have no inside info from there. If that's the opening you were wondering about.

    I have no more inside information than anybody else, but yes, it looks like a combination of Star writers —Mellinger, Flanagan, Boyce, McCollough, etc. — have taken over the national baseball beat. (I think Flanagan, who now writes their Page 2 media column, used to be the national baseball writer in the mid-90s.)
