    Mesa says "hell no!"

But Naples, Fla., is reportedly trying to lure the team.

Any team that leaves Arizona for Florida these days is crazy, particularly the Cubs, since everyone from the Midwest retires to Arizona.

With the Dodgers moving to Arizona, there's now an even balance -- 16 Grapefruit, 14 Cactus. The Cubs going back east would make it an odd situation again, and there again would be a lot of split-squad games.

    The Cubs aren't leaving Mesa.

The Cubs will be getting a much better deal from Mesa however.

The taxpayer-franchise blackmail game spreads even to spring training (well, actually, it happened a long time ago, but it's ramping up to new levels).

Now, if they would only leave Chicago. :D
