So would it have been OK for Jackie Robinson to have shirts with a caricature of a black person on it saying "look at this n-word hit the ball?" cause it makes him money?

Maybe he just wanted to cash in on a good marketing opportunity. In any case, he should laugh it off and chalk it up to moronic Cubs fans.

No, it wouldn't, but that's not even remotely the same.

Indeed, if we just "laugh off" offensive speech, it will just magically fade away!

    Yay!!!!!!!! To Fantasyland we go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before continuing this nonsense, did you happen to read the part of the story where Fukudome said he didn't like it and found it offensive, PHI?

OK, this is getting out of hand:

Tuffy Rhodes was "discriminated" against by the record-holder himself, Sadarahu Oh, who managed the team that walked Rhodes in the final weekend because he didn't want his own record broken. Yes, it was convenient to say nobody in Japan wanted a gaijin to break Oh's mark. But the backlash was similar to the one received by Barry Bonds when he was attempting to break the honorable Hank Aaron's record. Albeit, of course, for different reasons.

To call it "discrimination" is to excuse Oh's pride getting in the way, which was a large part of the reason it happened in the first place.

And maybe you're right about the comparison not being quite the same. How about the image was of Harry made to look like a stereotypical black, and it said "Holy Cow, N-word!" when the first black player joined a team?

You know damn well Tuffy Rhodes is not the only player that got the same treatment while chasing Oh's records.

Nice try, dipshit, but there isn't anything remotely resembling N-word in the universe of Asian insults.

And that was the moment when everyone realized they were wasting time giving any attention to PHINJ's posts in this thread.

Yes, I did. Did you read the part where I said if you're going to call attention to your ethnicity, don't bitch about it when people notice?
