Girl pleads guilty to giving meth to other students

By James Walsh And Pat Pheifer, Star Tribune
    Last update: October 03, 2007 – 1:55 PM

A 14-year-old girl pleaded guilty today to distributing crystal methamphetamine to classmates at Hazel Park Middle School Academy in St. Paul, the Ramsey County Attorney's office said.

The girl pleaded guilty in juvenile court to second-degree sale of a controlled substance and will be held in custody until her next court appearance on Oct. 10. While the girl was arrested for giving crystal meth to at least six other students, the crime still is considered a "sale," a Ramsey County spokeswoman said.

St. Paul police on Tuesday arrested the girl after she was released from an area hospital. Seven students, including the girl, were taken to Regions Hospital or St. Paul Children's Hospital after they ingested what officials said were small quantities of crystal meth.

School officials had said the girl told them she'd "found" the crystal meth. But police spokesman Tom Walsh said today that officers executed a search warrant at the girl's home and found additional crystal meth -- about two grams.
