    Just the same when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt asked Churchill what to
    do and he said we should invade North Africa.

    Of course in that case, Churchill was worried Germany would gain control of the Suez, the Middle East and the oil there, and possibly link up with Japan for control of all of South Asia, allowing the Axis powers the energy required to fight a long war. It is true that Churchill wanted to show his peeps that they were actually fighting the Germans somewhere instead of just watching bombs fall from their planes across Great Britain.
