I don't know why, but the London Times released their top 50 sports movies of all time this week. I checked to see if this has been posted, so I hope it's not a D_B.

Anyway, you can find the whole list here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_sport/article3358630.ece

But, here's the top 20 (started at #1), for your viewing pleasure.

    Raging Bull
    Chariots of Fire
    When We Were Kings
    Rocky
    This Sporting Life
    Field of Dreams
    Any Given Sunday
    Million Dollar Baby
    Jerry Maguire
    Cool Runnings
    Escape To Victory
    Slap Shot
    Bull Durham
    Happy Gilmore
    Hoosiers
    The Hustler
    The Natural
    Hoop Dreams
    Caddyshack
    Grand Prix

How about that Happy Gilmore cracking the top 15? Caddyshack is way overrated anyway.

I cannot believe Victory didn't make their list.

That's Escape To Victory BYH. You know how some titles get changed on different sides of the pond.

What about Mean Machine, the soccer version of The Longest Yard?

Usually pretty overlooked in Britain. I only ever remember it coming on very late at night, never in primetime, although I think it's a great movie.

As for this list, I would recommend "This Sporting Life" for American audiences. It's kind of 'our' movie, and you may not be able to understand some of the northern England accents, but it is definitely worth watching.

    Wouldn't that be 4 3/4 fortnights?

What is a list without "Driven"? ::) And "Any Given Sunday" was rated too high.

Cool Runnings beats Slap Shot? Horseshit, I say.
