    Hey, at least I'm consistent.

Santo doesn't get in for being a nice guy, and Blyleven should go despite being a prick.

Look more closely at his numbers. He also was a damned good defensive player.

    Biggio & Manny, already in.

Blyleven, my head says yes, my heart says my head is wrong.

Santo? Haven't looked at the numbers, but how much better was he than the Boyer, Torre, Nettles etc.?

Santo -- No fucking way. Sorry, Doc. Doesn't mean he's not the greatest 3B in Cubs history. But he shouldn't be in Cooperstown. He was Ken Boyer without the rapid decline (plus, he retired at 34).

Blyleven -- fuck, dude, I wish the standard had been strict enough not to allow Sutton in (of course, that would be a couple dozen other pitchers wouldn't be in, either.) I think dominance and longetivity should not be equal; I think you have to be at least a little dominant, and dominant for at least 4-5 years, to deserve a spot. ... But because the standard is what it is, Bert's gotta be in.

Rice -- goes back to dominance. And he was ... for 12 fucking years! He deserves to go.

Murphy -- same thing. Two-time MVP, back to back. He was a dominant outfielder in his prime, from 1982-87. He should be in.

Jack Morris -- also the same. THE dominant pitcher of his era, hands down. Game 7 elevates him to a legend. He should also be in.

Santo's probabilty, according to James' formula: (from baseball reference)

    Black Ink: Batting - 11 (203) (Average HOFer ~ 27)
    Gray Ink: Batting - 147 (88) (Average HOFer ~ 144)
    HOF Standards: Batting - 40.9 (138) (Average HOFer ~ 50)
    HOF Monitor: Batting - 88.0 (177) (Likely HOFer > 100)
    Overall Rank in parentheses.

    Doc --
Even with the Gold Gloves the dude's borderline at the very best.

As for bert, the CG's, K's, and one of the nastiest hooks of all time should be enough to put him and his 294 wins (I think that's right) over the top.

I'm convinced that if Bert were a deaf mute, he'd be in already.

Agreed, Zeke. He is borderline. But, combine his image with his announcing and JDRF work, and he should get in at some point while he's still alive. All I'm saying.

Bert being out has nothing to do with his mouth or his personality.

It has everything to do with 287 wins -- ("29 is not 30, Eddie" and 287 is not 300) -- and the fact that Blyleven was never considered a dominant starter in his career. Ever.

Hey, it's not like I'll boycott if he gets in.

And buck, you and I have almost the same thinking when it comes to this stuff.

Rice has to go before Murphy, though.

    Rice has to go, period.

Blyleven -- He should be in. Shutouts, strikeouts, World Series champ (two-time champ, Pirates 1979 and Twins 1987), one of the best curveballs in all of baseball. Master of the hot foot!

Goose Gossage -- Should have joined Sutter this year!
