I was trying to remember as well, Smasher, was it CBS?

That sounds right. It couldn't have been Fox, because his laugh isn't loud enough.

  3. I was watching some mullet-wearing guy on ESPN yesterday, I didn;t recognize him, saying people are touting Cowher too high and he would have been fired from most franchises during 'the lean years." I guess he was talking about 98 and 99 when they went 7-9 and 6-10 respectievly. Before those years, he had his only other 6 seasons compiling over 10 wins in all but 1, and that one being 9-7 and a playoff berth. The guy only had three seasons out of 15 where his team was under .500 and this jerk calls them, "the lean years". what a moron.

Sadly, though, there was talking of Cowher being let go after those two consecutive seasons. Plenty of fans and members of the media were turning on him.

Lucky for the Steelers, the Rooneys usually know what they are doing.

No coach, none, would have been fired at any point of that above career, based on merit.

  6. Mike Ditka did a similar job (albeit in a shorter tenure) with the Bears, including a Super Bowl win. He was fired after his second losing season in 10 years (1982 doesn't count).

He's been under contract for at least three days.

Like I said "based on merit"

Ditka didn't go just because of a 5-11 season

I heard that early in the week... but I don't know where.

  11. Rumor was Cowher appearing on NBC this weekend but he changed plans and canceled when he decided to announce his resignation on Friday. Last night, Cowher attended his daughter high-school basketball game in Raleigh so I'm not sure how legit those tv rumors were considering his desire to spend more time with the family.
