I'm not a fan of Rhoden's suggestion that just because the Jets haven't won a championship in 40 years they have nothing to lose by going after Owens.

A championship drought is no excuse to make potentially harmful moves in the name of 'what-do-you-have-to-lose'... In fact, I would argue that taking such an approach will likely only lengthen said championship drought.

It's not just is was a stupid premise for a column, it's that Rhoden is a disingenuous bastard. If you write that column about TO, why not the same column about Kurt Warner, who was available as a free agent. Can anyone say the Jets are set at QB next year? THat after 40 years without a championship a retarded wide receiver is the difference between Super Bowl and Senior Bowl, but not a QB.
If Warner was named Daunte Culpepper, Rhoden the racist would be all over it. But Warner's a white player and the anti-Owens, therefore not within Rhoden's wheelhouse

It would take some guts for any New York columnist, regardless of race or creed, to advocate that the Jets sign ANOTHER veteran quarterback who wrestles with retirement every offseason.
