Covering volleyball

That seems to be the norm more often. Today's girls don't think twice before changing shirts in the middle of a gym.

Covered volleyball for over 15 years and all the rules apply here... watch for runs in points, an ace can be any unreturned serve... if the other team has trouble because a team's front line constantly blocks and stuffs every kill attempt, you can talk to that coach about defense, etc...

And yes, I've had those "where the hell were you when I was in high school" moments, but mainly I've had a lot of fun covering the sport.

  2. If you can't deal with a sports bra, don't cover track or cross country.

Holy shit this is scary. The first time I saw that I thought Chris Hansen was going to jump out of the stands and throw a camera in my face.

    You guys are too funny.

This is how my scoring sheet looks if Team B scores on a kill, with an assist where Team A is serving. Team A is on my left, Team B on my right, with the score 15-13 in the favor of Team B.

    Team A 8 Team B Kill 15, Assist 4 13-15
    Team B 12

Team A 8 would be the server.

Whoever said to take notes during timeouts makes a great point. Like any other sport, coaches take timeout in volleyball to try to stop a run or ice a server.

An ace can be touched, it's just an nonreturnable serve. For instance, Polly Podunk can try to return a serve, but it's not going to happen it it's going 50 mph straight at her face.

There are some other nuances like a back row attack. It is called against the libero because she is a defensive specialist and cannot rise above the net (behind the back row line) and spike the ball.
Any other player can jump above net level for the kill.

Really, guys? There are some good sport-related answers on this thread, but damn. You're talking about MINOR CHILDREN. Stop talking about their legs or their ass or their bush or their sports bras. Pervs.

Any sports editors on the board, take note -- make sure you're not sending your most sketchy reporter to cover underage volleyball.

    Ahem!

My concern is not voyeurism on my part, more, what the heck are they thinking? Yes, there are the pervs out there, and if I'm coaching, or a parent, I'm reminding the team that the proper place to change is the locker room.
