FWIW, I live 20 miles from Knox and about 35 from Springfield (insert all Simpsons jokes here). The Springfield Sun is a LCNI paper, but it won't be for very long as LCNI is up for sale. The Turret is printed and basically ran by an LCNI daily (the one I work for). At both places, you cover one high school (and middle and youth/rec leagues, etc.). Springfield Sun also has a small, small juco (we're the closest daily to it and we never cover the thing).

Any more info, pm me or kysportswriter

The Turret provides 30-40 pages in three sections each Thursday with a circulation of 18, 700. Our readership includes military personnel, civil service and contract employees, federal retirees, family members and the general public, and ranges from Fort Knox throughout a five-county area of the region, including Metro Louisville, the nation's 16th largest city. The Turret is also mailed throughout the country and literally around the world.

Turret staffers annually enter print journalism competitions sponsored by the Department of the Army and several civilian organizations, and have myriad opportunities to strengthen and polish their skills in reporting, writing, editing, layout, and photography.
