A gun was passed between the man and the woman and both pointed it at police, authorities said.

Two officers fired into the room after the couple refused to drop the gun.

And when a hunter goes on a shooting spree because something's gone wrong in his life, then do you take all guns away from everyone?

Guns kill. Duh. But drugs are illegal and people still have those. People will still have guns. Won't save a life. At least this way, they can get training to use them properly.

Or something. This is why I don't post serious thoughts...I don't have any.

82 people a day are killed by firearms in America, including suicide, atleast according to a NY Times article I read yesterday..Ban private ownership of handguns

I'm saying this gently, because I don't believe in arguing with strangers on the Internet, but that is the dumbest, most specious argument in the history of debate.

1) Most of us would argue that cars are necessary to conduct our lives. Handguns, not so much.

2) Cars are not designed expressly to kill. Handguns are.

That's like saying, If we ban guns, we should ban rope, because rope kills people! Well, yes, but in its order of uses, killing is pretty low on rope's list. No one is going to get shot by the cops for brandishing a lasso. And I've never heard of someone going on a tying or a lashing spree.

Same goes for knives, water, magnets, trash compactors, lathes, espresso machines, rocking chairs, nailguns, lawnmowers, weed whackers, and electricity.

Only guns are guns.
