    With only 600-plus voters, I'm not sure that's an accurate cross section of Arizona. That's pretty low for that type of survey.

    And a fat lot of good those years did him in 2000, when W needed South Carolina.

  7. My point, of course, was that the guy went from bipartisan love god/putative frontrunner to this in less than a year.

    I was surprised to see these numbers -- but to be fair, Janet Napolitano is a remarkably popular governor in a state that's not as Republican as it used to be. The state GOP has had a really hard time just getting someone to run against her because they know they're going to get their asses kicked.
