I don't understand what the problem is.

I think you do. You just have philosophical differences with those who think the Bible is not fiction, which is your right.

But to say you don't get the potential outrage is disingenuous on your part.

By the way, here's a photo:

Well, it isn't non-fiction, any biblical scholar would tell you that.

    So what is it?

I think the pastor's outrage is disingenuous, as it's obviously a human error.

No way a company like Costco would do that to make a point.

Eh, talking snakes, magic apples, women turning into salt, men surviving getting eaten by whales, it's all non-fiction to me.

There's also a lot of factual, historical moments mixed in there.
In all seriousness, if there's no religion category then it should be reference based on its pervasiveness alone.
Being a huge chain, however, and not a bookstore with more specific categories, Costco probably just lists books as fiction or non-fiction.

Actually, Costco classifies everything as "large" or "extra large." Not many single serving-sized items in there.

I guess by book standards, the Bible does have a lot of pages ...

It sounds like Costco is pinning it on a "wearhouse distribution mixup" which either means someone forgot to change the labeler or there's a guy in distribution who thought he was being funny who's now out of a job. This is a non issue because it was such an isolated issue but became a big deal because you don't mess with people who take this seriously.
