Wolfgang Ballinger, 21, surrendered Thursday after investigators probing an early Sunday sexual assault at the Ithaca, N.Y. Ivy League university contacted his attorney, according to the school’s police department.

The victim identified Ballinger as the man who had led her to a bedroom and sexually assaulted her around 2 a.m., police said. An alert issued by police described the perpetrator as 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10 with a medium skin tone and wavy dark brown or black hair that is almost collar length. University officials suspended the Psi Upsilon chapter from all operations and activities the following day.
