Anyone make the transition to this career field or know of someone who has?

For those of you who don't know, a lot of the work is in advertising and marketing. You write scripts for ads in all of the mediums - TV, radio, print, Internet, etc. You'll also write press releases, brochures, newsletters and other marketing/PR materials to get out the message.

This can be one of those entry-level jobs journalists look for to get out of the industry.

So, for those of you who are already familiar, what kind of salary should one expect from this type of job? I've done some research on the numbers, but I'm curious if some of you would like to share salary information. I don't want to pry into personal stuff, but anything would be helpful.

    Thanks.

Copywriting is much different from journalism. There are no rules.

Pay is better though. Probably 35-40k to start.

Care to elaborate on the first part of the comment? I'm curious.

I assume it means you can stretch the truth and such.
