Dear SF E: I'm not a joiner, and seeing as I worked at first a disreputable (if excellent) alternative newspaper and an even-more disruptable (if often delightful and occasionally excellent) tabloid, the Society didn't send many messages to either working address. So it passed me by.

Fair enough; I guess they were pretty active at a couple of my stops, which is how I knew about 'em.

I don't think your tabloid is any more disreputable than, say, any other tabloid.

    I rather liked it.

That was a joke BT. I loved the Herald. Like many things/people one loves, it sometimes infuriated me, but working there was a joy.

Kind of like a penal colony in the old days, eh? Thanks for the warning.

I should have figured that, Michael.

It was usually a helluva read, I will say that.

I read the Globe and the Herald religiously for years.

Now that I am in upstate New York, I have to admit I don't check the Herald web site nearly often enough, unless Dan Kennedy points something out on Media Nation.
