Copy Editor / Team Lead, Cox Media Group, West Palm Beach

We are looking for an experienced slot editor -- preferably someone who has worked at a metro paper -- who can serve as a Team Lead on our Shared Services copy desk in West Palm Beach. Our Team Leads serve as a main point of contact for CMG papers throughout the night. They slot copy and work with our other copy editors and designers to make sure deadlines are met.

Who we're looking for...
Helps to organize work on the Newspaper Shared Services Sports Desk in coordination with the Operations Manager and Senior Editors. Prepares stories for final publication in any of the newspapers served by the Shared Services Desk. Responsibilities include editing and proofing copy and graphics for accuracy, spelling, grammar, style, clarity, fairness and taste. Raises concerns of bias, libel and slander. Writes headlines that are lively, conversational and sell the story with energy. Maintains the journalistic, ethical and professional standards of the company.

The available position...
Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
Must have at least 5 years experience as a copy editor
Is on a sports-only copy desk serving major sports markets. Our desk serves The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Austin American-Statesman, The Palm Beach Post and the Dayton Daily News, plus two smaller Ohio newspapers.
Is located in West Palm Beach, Fla.
