    Responsible for reading copy to find and correct errors in grammar, spelling, syntax, facts and clarity. Rewrites story leads and writes headlines for articles. Will design pages and story layouts using photographs, graphics and type fonts. Primary pages include the front page and news and feature section fronts (excluding sports). Will develop information graphics and locator maps. Must possess online skills to include writing dayparts, posting stories, photos and videos and sending out breaking e-alerts. Will read and edit reporter stories in addition to AP news copy to correct errors in grammar, spelling, syntax and facts and improve clarity. Works under general supervision and refers unusual problems and situations to supervisor. Normal working hours are 3:00PM - 12:00 AM, Tuesday through Saturday. The ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays is required.

    Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, journalism, or related programs, is required.

    Must have working knowledge of Quark (or InDesign), PhotoShop and Illustrator. A knowledge/training in graphic arts is preferable. Must possess online skills, such as ability to write dayparts and headlines, post stories/photos/videos, and sending out breaking e-alerts.

    Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license with no more than two points for a period of two years.
