Copy editor/page designer position at The Tuscaloosa News

    The Tuscaloosa News is seeking a full-time sports designer/copy editor to join the universal desk of its 30,000-circulation daily newspaper.

    Primary responsibilities will be producing sports pages using InCopy and InDesign software and helping maintain websites, as well as producing news pages as needed. The ideal candidate would have two or more years of experience at a daily newspaper, as well as a bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. The Tuscaloosa News produces a consistent Top 10 Associated Press Sports Editors section in one of the best college sports markets in the nation with a highly motivated sports staff that has high standards and expectations.

    Work schedule will include night shifts, weekends and some holidays. The Tuscaloosa News is part of Halifax Media Group. We foster a diverse, collaborative work environment and offer competitive pay and benefits.

    Good on ya, Tommy. I posted that somewhat sarcastically, noting the rivalry between Auburn and University of Alabama. Good that you guys are open-minded.

    • A very forward-thinking, busy sports section in Tuscaloosa
    • Cheap cost of living (college town)

    Damien Martin is leaving us. His wife got a lucrative job out of state.

    In fact, the last two people who have held this position left when the spouse got a too-good-to-refuse job offer elsewhere.

    So if your spouse is looking to move up in the world, this could be the job for you.
