The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer is looking for an experienced sports copy editor for its pagination hub, which produces multiple daily and weekly newspapers in the Paxton Media Group chain. Copy editors are in charge of selecting wire copy and photos and combining them with locally generated material to draft page designs that are executed by paginators. The copy editor is also responsible for editing all local and national copy. This position requires a strong knowledge of sports, solid news judgment, the skills to direct multiple paginators and the ability to work accurately under deadlines. At least two years experience on a newspaper copy desk is required, along with strong editing skills and the ability to master Adobe InDesign.
