    Job Description:

    The Corvallis Gazette-Times, a 12,000-circulation daily in the heart of Oregon's beautiful Mid-Willamette Valley, has an opening for a sports designer/copy editor to join our staff and be responsible for creating eye-catching designs 4-5 times a week.

    Our main focus is on covering Oregon State University and we devote a lot of space to the Beavers, as well as our local high school teams.

    Some writing may be involved at various times of the year. However, this position primarily will be charged with editing daily stories, choosing and editing appropriate wire stories and photos, and designing the daily sports section, as well as posting content to our website.

    Minimum requirements include a college degree in journalism or equivalent combination of experience and education and experience on a daily newspaper.

    Why is pay rarely listed? Don't they know they could weed out a lot of applicants and not have to sift through so much paperwork if they would just list a window.

    Don't expect more than $30,000 especially when places like Flagstaff pay less than $28K for the SE job.

    I believe the sports staffs in Corvallis and Albany are combined. This is a smart, soggy town that loves its Beavs, but that circulation means the pay will be low and the cost of living is higher than some college towns.

    Good paper...not crazy about the Lee chain...and a chance to be involved with the Pac-10.

    I too, wish a pay range was posted more often on these boards, but I'd say it would probably top out at $30K at best

    The sports staffs of the Corvallis Gazette-Times and the Albany Democrat-Herald are not combined, but they do work together as needed.
    The staff in Corvallis covers OSU.
