    Both of those are heartbreaking.

    Fuck Media General. And fuck Scripps. Legwold was right then, and he's right now. They didn't have to do what they did.

    As someone who got out just before our small paper was about to go to consolidated copy desk (even after being told two months before it was never happening -- yeah, right), I feel so much for these fine people. And to see the abhorrent -- and easily avoidable -- mistakes that are being made in the paper now...ECCCCHHHHHH.

    Management doesn't care. How many papers really teach young reporters the ropes and help them get better? Not many.

    Very few. I was very, very lucky because as an intern and at my first stop I found out who the best copy editors were and told them I was open to any and all suggestions.

    They had tons. :)
