I'll tell you what's wrong with it: to my experience, kids on skateboards pretty much go hell-bent with no regard for pedestrians and cars. And they always seem to want to skateboard where it's not allowed. In my town, there are 2-3 skate parks and miles and miles of sidewalks in residential areas. There are no lack of places to skateboard. But the little brats want to go to bandshells, steps and railings to public buildings such as libraries and schools, mall parking lots, etc. No, they're not damaging the sidewalk, but they're sending pedestrians scattering in places where they have no business with their boards, despite the fact there are plenty of places to go safe for them and safe for everyone else. Must be some kind of outlaw mentality they have.

The cop was over the line. No question. He should be fired. But I know that area of the Baltimore Inner Harbor, and skateboarding is not allowed for obvious reasons -- there are numerous tourists and residents who would like a nice, peaceful walk to various attractions without getting run over by the punks.

I used to skateboard. I never "terrorized" anyone. I got off the sidewalk when people were on it, and never scared old ladies or children. Your argument has now been flawed.
