    Coordinator, Communications & Media Relations - Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club (Edmonton, AB)

    • Reports directly to the Manager, Communications & Media Relations
    • The Coordinator, Communication & Media Relations is a full time, benefited position

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    PUBLICATIONS

    Take the lead in compiling and producing the team publications such as the Media Guide, Training Camp Guide and Post-Season Guide
    Compile and distribute Game Notes package for all home and road games
    Research and produce the club’s bi-monthly prospect report
    GAME NIGHT

    Coordinate and supervise (Rexall Place Media) area and related functions and game night staff
    Coordinate and supervise (Rexall Place Media) seating assignments and TV/Radio booth assignments
    Coordinate and supervise operation of Oilers Media Lounge, including collection of monies and distribution of game notes, statistical information and news releases
    Serve as primary liaison with NHL Off-Ice Officials crew
    Coordinate distribution of post-game statistical packages to teams and media
    STATISTICS AND INFORMATION

    Compile and update Edmonton Oilers statistics for both team and individual records
    Provide information to Manager, New Media Production for use on team’s web page (Game Notes, News Releases, and Statistics)
    Provide information to the Oilers Finance, Marketing and Ticket Departments when requested
    Provide information and statistics to Quality Color (team printer) for publication in ZONE Magazine
    MEDIA RELATIONS

    Assist in the day-to-day media relation requirements of the department with local, national and international media
    Assist in co-coordinating interviews with players, coaching staff and management
    Prepare news releases and media advisories
    Assist with set up for news conferences, media briefings and other media events
    Travel and act as primary media relations liaison for team when required
    Process and distribute media and scouting accreditation requests
    Coordinate, along with the Executive Assistant to the President and the team’s Security Advisor, the distribution of media, staff, alumni and game night staff season credentials and parking passes
    Fulfill information requests from the NHL, NHL teams, media and the general public
    Write articles and features for the Oilers website and Oilers publications and the general public
    Assist in editing written material where required
    Assist with website updates and postings upon request
    Assist with photo requests as needed
    Maintain all statistical archives
    HOCKEY OPERATIONS

    Assist the Hockey Operations Department in compilation of statistical information to be used in player salary arbitrations and player transactions
    Assist coaching staff with statistical analysis
    Liaise with Communications staff of team affiliates in regards to player transactions and daily communication issues
    Assist with NHL Entry Draft, NHL All-Star and NHL Awards
    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    N/A
    Ideal Qualifications:

    University or college graduate in communications, or sports administration
    Two to three years previous experience in communications, or sports administration
    Knowledge of the media
    The ability to summarise and simplify complex information and communicate effectively to different groups
    Excellent communication skills including research, writing, editing and presentation skills
    Strong organizational, time management and planning skills
    Ability to form and foster successful working relationships
    Bilingual (French and English) is an asset
