    IIRC, Voyager 2 had a similar problem. The main antenna for transmitting data didn't deploy properly, so they had to use a smaller one and then reprogram the probe in flight. They always compared it to talking to someone who was deaf in one ear.

    Building laser weapons that are portable and can be used tactically will require exponential advances in power storage. A death ray strong enough to cut an armored vehicle in two requires fearsome energy.
