Contemporary country is pure BS

Doesn't shake the "crushingly boring" tab. I don't think Bubs was decrying his talent.

I think his appeal is that he's NOT contemporary country. He appears to be a genuine, down-to-earth, not a flash-in-the-pan, spray tan gangster.

I've been throwing up too. :D

I know he's been a hitmaker since the 80s. So what?

What exactly makes him stand out? I mean, I can instantly pick out a George Jones, Conway Twitty, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr. (who I don't like, but who is recognizable), Johnny Cash, Don Williams, Randy Travis, hell, Garth Brooks, etc. song, but there's no way I could identify what George Strait's style even is. I vaguely think he's from Texas, but I don't know how he evokes the state. What's his legacy?

Like I said, the Jim Nantz of music.

Where's Dwight Yoakum fall? I like Dwight.
Faron and Willie? They're not contemporary are they?

Not sure where Strait's from, but I hear all his exes live in Texas.

Bubbs, check out Cory Morrow sometime. You won't be disappointed.

    I'll grant you that.

But at the same time, he embodies the faceless, dude-in-a-cowboy-hat singer who never takes an artistic risk in his life. Singing to people who refuse to take a risk on listening to something that falls outside of what the radio tells them they should listen to.

All of George's exes live in Texas. You can't fuck with that.
