Exactly. And I loved that show so much until the last 5-6 episodes.

The entire last season of LOST blows. The last season of The Wire was flawed, and clearly the weakest of the five, but it didn't invalidate the entire series.

I also think the 5th season of The Wire holds up better on rewatching. When you know what a stupid clusterfuck the end of LOST is going to be, it only makes the final season seem like an even bigger waste of time.

Thus ends my LOST rant. For now.

    My name is my name.

I enjoyed season 1 of The Wire, but got completely bored with the first handful of episodes of season 2 and stopped watching. If I can ever get my DVR down to a reasonable level, I may take some time and start over with season 2.

I hated the shipyard season. I don't even remember what year it was. Hated every freaking second.

    I wanted more Bodie. :)

Season 2. I didn't like it much when I watched the first time, but on second viewing, I liked it a lot more.

I saw Bodie in a FedEx commercial. It made me sad.

Isn't Dookie in a KFC commercial?

People who don't like Season 2 don't deserve TVs.

Season 2 started a little slow for me but picked up quickly after about 3 episodes.

I'm bogged down about 4 episodes into season 4. I need to get back into it.

If you want more Bodie, watch OZ.

I cannot imagine the shitstorm that would have occurred had I been the one to make this post.

That being said, in all seriousness ...

In my opinion, and this is only my opinion, Season 2 was worth it just for the Ziggy scene in the second-to-last episode. This is only my opinion. If your opinion differs, I respect that, too. I think - and this is just my opinion - it was on par, for sheer power, with the Wallace scene in Season 1. It's just my opinion, but one of the great things about "The Wire" - and, again, just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth - is how earned those moments are.

Contrast this with, in film, in my opinion, the discussion about "Super 8" on the movie thread. In my opinion, the sentimental moment at the end was largely unearned. That's just my opinion, though. And I only bring up "Super 8" because I think - just from my point of view, you are free to disagree - that it's a good contrast of earned and unearned moments in a series or a film.

In your illustrious posting history, two things stand out:

    (1) Your rock-solid evidence that the teaching profession would not draw more talent if it paid more: Because your neighbor's boyfriend's cousin's neighbor's stepsister taught for the love of the game. Want me to dredge up a few of those posts to see how lukewarm your tone was?
    (2) Your oh-so diplomatic posts about the Jeff Pearlman Walter Payton book.

    Go away.
