Computer help .. Media player issues

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Evil ... Thy name is Orville Redenbacher!!, Feb 14, 2014.

  1. My Windows Media Player is no longer playing Internet clips.
Most commonly I get this message: "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help."
    Which is no help.

Other times the cursor just spins or the screen is white.
    Any suggestions?

Download VLC Player. Much better than Windows Media Player, and it can play anything.

Which version of Windows are you running?
  4. Vista I think.
    It's several years old.

The easiest fix is to go to Microsoft's web site and download the latest version of Media Player. Before doing that, make sure Vista is updated and run your anti-malware program (you DO have one, right??) to make sure you don't have any infections.

Malwarebytes is what I use, it's very, very good.
