I guess I shouldn't bitch about getting 50 percent up to 4 percent, huh?

Hell, I don't get any match right now. Gotta work at least a year to start matching at all, and gotta work 6 years until I get fully vested.

All the money I've lost this year has been my own. :-\

My previous stop didn't match anything for anyone (except for managers, of course) and hadn't for at least a decade.

My shop matches 25 percent up to 4 percent. I'll take it.

Yeah, I can't even start contributing to the company plan for another month or so, and then they don't start matching me until I think another three months.

How long's it going to take you to think for three months? [/ducking]

In most cases, the decision not to match 401(k) means that those companies no longer are contributing ANYTHING to their employees' retirement.
Yes, the move to the 401(k) system was a beaut.

So they aren't going to put their worthless stock in my free-fallking 401K?

That is a great plan, few in any industry have that.

Anyone not contributing the 6% is a fool.
