Communications & Marketing Specialist, Blinn College (TX)

I spent roughly a decade in newspapers before leaving the industry to work in media relations at Blinn College. We've now got an opening for a communications & marketing specialist on our Bryan campus (about 10 minutes from Texas A&M's campus), and I'm looking for someone with daily newspaper experience to fill the position.

I need someone on staff who can write press releases, take photos and basically work the college like a newspaper beat, telling the public about all the daily successes it otherwise would have no way of discovering. Most of the stories consist of announcements from the college, promoting upcoming events, covering on-campus events and writing features on students, staff, on-campus organizations and academic programs. If you're light on marketing experience, please don't let that keep you from applying -- we're going to put a lot more emphasis on the communications portion of the position.
