Commercial Appeal to cut 55 jobs

Too early to tell, I surmise, how this affects the newsroom.

 

I predict the newsroom will be leaner after the job cuts.

 

Well, they certainly won't make the cuts in "revenue-producing" areas of the building like advertising and classifieds ...

 

They may also be 'meaner' too {any corporate hack writing the announcing press release}

 

They will be right-sizing the staff, which to a newspaper beancounter means the size of an Olson twin.

 

Probably not in a good way.

 

C-A is a guild paper, so the slashing will be especially lusty for The Men.

 

Hmmm...what if I had said "too early to tell how deeply this affects the newsroom?"

 

I predict that cubicles will sit empty, sometimes with left-behind personal items to creepily remind the survivors of the items' former owners.
