Comics ain't so funny anymore- Foxtrot to go weekly?

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Evil ... Thy name is Orville Redenbacher!!, Dec 26, 2006.

  1. Has anyone else heard:
The comic strip Foxtrot is going to be just a weekly strip?
    Damn.

I read only two newspaper comics - Foxtrot and Dilbert.
    Guess I'm down to one.

The comics haven't been the same without Calvin and Hobbes.

Get Fuzzy, Mutts and Pearls Before Swine rule.

I dig Arlo & Janis. Get Fuzzy is very good.

Isn't For Better or Worse ending soon as well? I've followed those crazy Canadians for years.

Since The Boondocks went MIA, I go to the comics specifically for For Better or For Worse (thank Canadian G-D that Michael got his manuscript out of the fire) and then, in order, Peanuts, Foxtrot and Doonesbury.

    Get Fuzzy is great.
It would suck if Foxtrot switched over to a weekly.
I can't be the only fan of Zits here, can I? :)
    Mutts is ok
Then again, I still like the classics - Blondie, Beattle Bailey, Hi & Louis, Funky Winkerbean, Hagar the Horrible.

Marge: Homer, are you all right?
Homer: I guess so, but that first month was pretty rough.
Marge: You've only been gone two days.
Homer: Really? Without TV, it's hard to know when one day begins
    and the other ends.
Bart: I miss you, Dad. Mom won't let me read "Hagar the
    Horrible."
    Marge: I just don't think it's funny.
Homer: Hmm, I can see the house is falling apart without me, so
here's the new order: Bart, you're the man of the house.
Lisa, I'm promoting you to boy. Maggie's now the brainy
girl. The toaster can fill in for Maggie. And Marge,
    you're a consultant.

I went through the entire comics for four weeks, trying to revive an old habit, and didn't have one laugh. Comics suck these days. Not even one Marmaduke.

Have you seen the complete Calvin & Hobbes collection? Three volumes. Costs like $150 retail, but it is pretty cool. My kids love it.

That's when I stopped reading them regularly. Boondocks was ruined by the godawful TV show and Fox Trot was one of the only funny ones left...

Dilbert is the best of the rest. Still funny.

Bloom County was always No. 1 in my book.

Calvin and Hobbes a strong No. 2.
