    Sports staffs at The Capital Times and Wisconsin State Journal are both quite good ... excellent reporters .... excellent writers. And also, they're good people.

    So will the Cap Times be replacing Lucas? In this era for the business, I would have to doubt it.

    Lucas has been a columnist at the Cap Times since I lived in Madison, and I left in 1977. He was once a pretty hard-hitting guy and obviously started when he was very young.

    This is cool with me. He has certainly done his time and fought the good fight, even though he also edged away from being an independent newspaper guy long ago.
