    To actually answer the earlier question without being a wiseass, you won't get this one without a good bit of experience. If you have some time in the business but no time writing columns, be prepared to somehow show you can write them. The executive editor likes columnists who aren't afraid to bring the wood.

    Seriously, in my past life, this would have been one of my dream jobs: a column gig at a mid-sized paper in an area my wife would leave vapor trails to relocate to. Hope to see a veteran with talent and passion get this one.

  12. Considering the recent events in Fayetteville, Brett Friedlander (no, not Brett Favre) would seem like a really nice fit for this job.
