Columnist likens Vancouver Olympics to 1936

There's about 500 reader comments to this on the column's original web site. I found one quite interesting....alleging that in Canada, this column would be considered a hate crime and worthy of prosecution.

No it wouldn't, it be ridiculed but nobody with an ounce of commom sense would call this a hate crime.

 

Yeah, the only problem with Gil's column is that there really is not a country or government or evildoer in the history of the world bad enough to compare Canada to.

That column was a slap in the face to hard-working Nazis.

Someone beat me to this, but seriously, a column -- and a poorly conceived and executed one at that -- on Canadian nationalism during the Olympics coming from a columnist in a state that has an overdeveloped sense of its own self worth is hilarious.
