    I'm told he left for about 10K per year more with another 5K bump when he relocates.

    Look, they are going to promote from within for the columnist gig. The new guy will get what's left. Come on, get with the program. The Statesman is known for doing that crap.

    Ummmm..... Hey, boots? Why is promoting from within crap? If you have people who do a good job on your staff, it's a bad thing to reward them with a promotion? Isn't it good for your employees to know that they have a chance to advance without having to move?

    Read da post. I said they are going to promote from within, which they should. And no, i haven't been at every paper but I'm more tuned in than most around here.
