Columbia Daily Tribune sold -- to GateHouse

    The thing about GateHouse's Austin design hub is it's a double whammy. Not only do you lose the pagination jobs, but also it costs the paper money to pay for the service, so the paper has to cut reporter positions too.

    But I thought the places claimed this kind of centralization allowed for "more boots on the ground" to do reporting.

    More layoffs today at the Tribune. I'll post more when I know more -- and get the OK from those affected.

    Are they going to replace the SE there? Because I know one GateHouse paper that is going on three years without an official sports editor on duty.
