    Not a huge surprise, but thought it deserved its own thread. Press conference coming Wednesday:

    I won't believe it until Rob Lowe says it's so.

    I'm generally the first to say both the teams and the players need to show more loyalty toward one another, and with Manning walking on water in these parts, and with him seemingly being one of the few who doesn't get himself into trouble ... but in this case I honestly can't blame the Colts. A $28 million bonus on top of whatever he's supposed to get in a four-year contract is a butt load of money for a guy that's had four neck surgeries recently and could just as easily be washed up as not.

    I don't think anybody wins in this situation except Andrew Luck.

    I really wanted them to keep Manning around just to tutor Luck or whoever they draft at QB. But that $28 million was a bit much, I guess.

    I hope wherever Peyton Manning ends up next season, he knocks the Colts out of the playoffs.

    Colts won't be in the playoffs for a while.

    This is the single most overrated thing in all of sports. Players, if they want to keep playing, don't willingly train their replacements. And players, if they want to win the job, don't take advice from their competition. People point to the Favre/Rodgers setup as some kind of validation of the vet-youngster phenomenon, but in reality Rodgers wasted two, maybe three years on the bench.

    If you're Kansas City....you do one of two things;

    Trade a bunch and move to 2 to get RG3
    or
    Sign Manning to a 3 yr, 18 million dollar deal.......trade Cassell and eat 2/3 his money.

    Timing is suspect. Manning was most likely behind a Colts bounty program.

    The 'mentoring' shit hardly ever, ever, ever works.

    In the two leading NFL instances where one Pro Bowl QB succeeded another -- Montana/Steve Young with the 49ers and Favre/Rodgers with the Packers -- the old guy did everything possible to sandbag the up-and-comer.
