I saw this on the wire:

    Sounds bad.

That does sound bad. Hope he is able to fully recover.

I love how the paper makes a pitch in the story for coaches to send in the information while the editor is out.

Sure would like to know if his photo work is something he's recently had to start doing due to cutbacks at his paper.

That's eight-man football, for anyone who's keeping score.

Probably not. It reads like he was a one-man gang. I hope he recovers OK.

Me too. I was just wondering if he was new at sideline photography. Being unfamiliar with that role would make it more likely you'd accidentally put yourself in a position to get hurt.

Story from his paper (with squirm-inducing medical details) is here: http://www.alamosanews.com/V2_news_articles.php?heading=0&page=72&story_id=14162

We would like to remind those of you working the sidelines (because the boosters have overrun the so-called press box) to evade whenever possible.

Bet his last photo was a good one.

Oooh, did I say that out loud?

Seriously, I hope he gets better. This is something I always had in the back of my mind whenever I was marching up and down the sidelines at a HS football game. Not good.

It's a lot easier to keep your head on a swivel if you aren't taking pictures.

I didn't mean to imply that I was more alert than him or that he did anything wrong. Just that I was always sort of afraid it would happen to me.

First of all, I hope he's OK.

Secondly, I hope he gets full workman's comp for as long as it takes for him to fully recover and I hope he doesn't try to come back one day before he's 100 percent healthy.

I know too many people who take their jobs seriously and force themselves to come back when they're not 100 percent and show loyalty to papers that would never treat them the same way.
