No way to pass those off as honest mistakes. Blatant rip-offs. See ya.

She saw that another editor got an offer from Poynter for doing the same thing.

Oh wait ... Poynter did eventually find out and look elsewhere. Never mind.

    She won't return.

Considering papers can track your Internet history, really not hard to nail someone to the wall on stuff like this.

I am always amazed that someone thinks this is OK. Well, multiple someones apparently, because this keeps happening. Do we need to do a better job in every newsroom explicitly saying that plagiarism will get you fired?

Probably, and I'd imagine they need to put more emphasis on it in journalism school. Maybe in job interviews too? You'd think it goes without saying, but ...

I don't think any of these people think it's OK, they just think they can somehow get away with it. Which is basically stupid.

Agreed. It was plenty emphasized to me in J school. And in the rest of college too.

I love that the editor not only admitted it publicly, but that he showed exactly what went awry. And then, if that wasn't enough, he took a commenter to task about plagiarism in general and the use of the wires.

An awesome throttling of the unknowing masses.
