College golfer botches tournament on purpose

He pretty much robbed the other guy of any sense of accomplishment when he "admitted" later that he did it on purpose.

 

I agree. The guy who "won" the hole is now a charity case. This is not in the spirit of golf, or sport for that matter. It's one thing to not run a race. It's quite another to throw a competition.

 

Then why play? If you're not playing to win it's insulting to your opponenet

I'd definitely take the win, but I'd also know that it wasn't completely earned, too. It certainly wouldn't ruin my life, but it would kinda suck, especially when you go to tell that story years down the road. "Yeah, I won, but..."

If the "winner" was insulted, he could have missed a couple putts and told the guy to give it his all the next playoff hole.

 

Seems to have gotten plenty. Made a national blog with a link from the front page of Yahoo. People are talking about it. Blogger is even talking about the stuff of movies.

Guess it worked.
