That is a deeply silly take.

Then why hasn't he won in Philadelphia, in San Francisco (unlike college, everyone in the NFL has a billionaire owner), and at UCLA, ever since, with a level playing field? And why did he get an 18-month show-cause order, one of the longest in NCAA history for a football coach? Do they give those because you followed the rules?

And why have Helfrich, Taggart and Cristoball not been anywhere close to matching his record since the NCAA probation? Anticipating some deeply silly answers.

Chip had a great, innovative offense that worked beautifully at Oregon. No one had run that type of offense with that type of pace. He moved to the pros and he couldn't do it anymore. Some of what he did was simply impossible in an NFL game.

That meant he had to adjust... and he couldn't. He had no Plan B. He ran the most vanilla offense imaginable in Philly. His playbook could have been written on a cocktail napkin. He was an abject failure.

He got a second chance in San Francisco and ran the exact same failed offense that he ran in Philly. Every time they broke the huddle the defense knew exactly what play was coming.

Now he's back in college at a shit program and everyone's had years to catch up. He doesn't have the players to do what he did at Oregon and it probably won't work now anyway. Chip looks very much like a one-trick pony. It was a hell of a trick but it doesn't work anymore.

And seriously, do you even know what the probation was? They lost one scholarship over a 3 year period. Instead of 85 they had 84. It was not even a slap on the wrist. They didn't match Chip's record because Helfrich was a garbage fire as a coach and recruiter. The probation had zero impact.

Enjoy the night. Your team just got a signature win over a 1-5 team.

USC's recruiting penalties helped Oregon a lot. There was a lot more going on than Kelly's offense. He had some serious speed when he was at Oregon. Oregon State receivers were torching his DBs today.

For one quarter Brian Maurer looked like he could, at least temporarily, save Tennessee football.

By the end of the game, however, he realized that saving Tennessee football might not be possible.

Actually, they crushed a 1-4 team. That is now 1-5. Nobody is calling it a signature win, but condescenders gonna condescend.

Nice list of excuses for Chipper. The NCAA punted and decided to penalize the orchestrator of the cheating, instead of the institution, even though UO was a repeat offender at that time, from the days of Gary Campbell forging signatures on LOIs. They lost a substantial number of recruiting visits, which did impact Helfrich's ability to get players. Director of ops was fired, and a top adminisstrator quietly and conveniently found a new job.

Kelly does look like he's in over his head now.

LSU gets Florida, Auburn and TAMU at home, on the road against Alabama. I like their chances.

    They got Rice's score correct.

    Should have been XXXV-XX.

Looks like Kansas found and removed part of the problem. Les "You can pass on first down?" Koenning was OC for UAB's first season back, and the team had it's most wins ever up to that time - and he still got sacked.

A game plan that is 90% run, run, pass won't get it anymore.
