Let's look ahead and predict Oregon wins out to reach the NCG. Given the opportunity, would the Rose Bowl really have Notre Dame - instead of a BCS Top 14 UCLA or Stanford - face the Big 10 winner? Notre Dame is basically in the Big Ten.

The Rose Bowl would be forced to take a top-14 Pac-12 team, but there's a decent chance Oregon is the only one. And no one would pass on Notre Dame in any situation.

Should Oregon reach the NCG, the Rose Bowl gets the first pick of the BCS bowls. Will be very interesting to see which direction they go, especially if Nebraska claims the Big Ten and no Pac-12 team finishes in the Top 14. (a Huskers-vs.-Sooners reunion sounds a lot more appealing than Nebraska/Notre Dame).

It won't be interesting because here is the hierarchy:

    1. Pac-12 champion
    2. Pac-12 team in the top 14
    3. Notre Dame
    4. Oklahoma
    5. Texas
    6. Second-best SEC team

These choices are formulaic. Because Oregon, Notre Dame and Kansas State can't all be in the BCS title game, it won't get further than Oklahoma. Maybe it would be interesting if Oklahoma doesn't win out.

The Rose Bowl only gets first pick if Oregon is No. 1. If K-State is No. 1 the Fiesta Bowl gets first pick.

Hopefully this won't turn into anything serious but one of Texas A&M's football players is missing.

What's despicable is I immediately thought of Harvey Updyke, and not in an entirely joking way. Jesus.

Some high-quality run defense going on in Muncie right now.

Don't forget about Louisiana Tech. I don't know if they'll be able to get to No. 16 -- they're lurking at No. 20 right now -- but if they do they'd probably finish ahead of Louisville and earn the second at-large bid. Could gum things up.

Louisiana Tech has nothing to do with the Rose Bowl. By having autobids for two conferences, the Rose Bowl excuses itself from ever landing a shit draw unless Northwestern or Oregon State wins its conference title.

And they'd play the ACC champ in the Orange Bowl. Maybe the SEC champ in the Sugar Bowl if people in New Orleans were feeling generous.
