I agree with the "He's worth it." camp.

For what he means to that state and that programm he's worth every cent.

Saban's pay in 2012 will be $5,316,666.67. Anyone surprised "666" shows up in that number?

    Roll Tide.

I heard a stat yesterday that Jeremy Pruitt (DB coach) makes $10,000 more/year than Major Applewhite did as OC during Saban's first year.

Comparing Applewhite's offense vs. Pruitt's DBs, that seems about right.

Can anybody think of a scenario where Saban leaves Alabama?

Could he ever possibly want to give the NFL another try? Is there any NFL team stupid enough to give him what presumably what it would take to get him to leave Alabama?

I think if he stays at Alabama, he's going to win a title every three years or so. If he does that and stays another decade, he'll be considered one of the best coaches of all-time, although, he may be pretty close to that already with three titles.

What is the opposite of the phrase "couldn't have happened to a nicer guy"?

Couldn't have happened to a better coach?

I agree Saban is a dick, but he's a dick who is one hell of a coach.

I heard a story once (it was either him or Stoops) that had a clause in their contract where if some other college football head coach was making more money than him, then they had a clause in their contract where they could re-negotiate it.

    I think that was Stoops.

Supposedly Les Miles has a contract clause guaranteeing him the top salary in college football.

But it went from Mack Brown to Nick Saban to Mack Brown and now back to Nick Saban the past four years.

Why don't we make this the college football offseason running thread? There's lots of spring ball to talk about.

Just saw this on the Twitters. Syracuse coach Doug Marrone is not drawing up a depth chart of any sort until after spring camp. I love the idea; it encourages true open competition.
