My bad. I looked it up before going to bed and saw that. It will indeed be a rough night for PNW papers. I just hope the Pullman High School Greyhounds are on the road Friday.

That definitely was a hold. Nothing marginal about the call. It's how he was able to run freely to the second level. Don't hold when the game is on the line.

Got to No. 2 for a week and lost to Rutgers on a Thursday night. Went into the tank after that and finished the year getting run off the field but Oregon in the Sun Bowl.

Ahem. Unless you're Florida and you need to give that QB a couple of extra seconds to unload his Hail Mary.

If the roles were reversed there's no way in hell the SEC refs are making that holding call. Doesn't mean it wasn't a hold Saturday night but that isn't getting called in Gainesville. If Vanderbilt keeps things close next week I'm sure we'll see a questionable call or non call.

All that being said, Kentucky shot itself in the foot plenty of times Saturday to let the refs make a difference.

How do you line up defensively with the game on the line and fail to cover a wide receiver?

Scramble situation, trying to get some personnel on or off, not counting quick enough.

It's Kentucky. Couldn't get their cleats off fast enough to count to 11.

Before we put a bow on Week 4, how about a shoutout for East Texas Baptist and Belhaven University from the D-3 ranks?
Final score: ETBU 79, Belhaven 40.
They combined for 119 points, 1,232 yards of total offense, 279 penalty yards, 6 turnovers, 55 first downs and, somehow, 7 punts.
Belhaven gave up 10 sacks for minus-66 yards and still finished with 600 yards of offense.
The most amazing stat from the box score, though, might be the length of the game -- a crisp 3 hours, 13 minutes.

    "Champions of Life" update!

While ripping out Kentucky's heart and taking a dump on it, Florida also claimed the lineal "Champions of Life" title, making the Gators the sixth team to own the title in a seven-game stretch.

    - Tennessee
    - Vanderbilt
    - NC State
    - South Carolina
    - Kentucky
    - Florida

Only South Carolina has successfully defended the title at least once.

But an interesting dilemma of the "Champions of Life" title has come up. When Butch Jones, the creator of the title, is fired this month, does the title fade from existence? I'm inclined to say yes. It wouldn't seem appropriate for the title to outlive its creator. On the other hand, college football fans are clamoring for their team to claim this title. It could very well pass the college football playoff one day.
