The early signing period is especially pointless. Unless they give outs for coaches fired or leaving for the pros, or if programs get put on probation.

That would be ideal for all signing periods. But there I go again, expecting the NCAA to do something that makes sense.

I don't have a problem keeping the Feb signing as is -- when you sign there the coaching carousel is done because programs know they have to have a staff in place weeks before. But even the Dec. date doesn't cure that issue.

I don't also like the June signing period because if a kid is locked in to a scholarship, there's zero incentive for their senior year.

Why so quiet here? Take Washington and Washington State to not just cover, but win outright. We'll then be that much closer to the inevitable: The Apple Cup deciding the Pac-12 North champ.
This is the year one of that conference's rich, successful and recent head coaching arrivals -- Mike Leach, Chris Petersen or Jim Mora, Jr. -- finally win a conference title there.

A 10th assistant? For what? The 9th guy couldn't give the boss ambidextrous hand shandies?

I'd think the early signing period is meant to protect schools and coaches more than players -- getting those "commits" to actually commit.

If we're going to have signing periods in June and December, an extra assistant involved in recruiting is probably a necessity. And virtually everyone has quality control coaches they will be drawing from to fill this role. Hell maybe we'll get special teams coaches who actually know how to instruct kickers now.

Oh i get that. But if there was a June signing period, LSU kids would be screwed. Texas kids might be screwed. Louisville kids are probably screwed. So why would any kid in the top 50 or 100 or any four star recruit sign early?

The upper upper crust might keep their options open, but lots of kids will feel pressure to get on board early.

Saban for instance will be able to tell kids "sign now or we move on."

Woof. Florida-LSU is canceled and won't be rescheduled, per LSU tweet.

Now LSU is backtracking and saying they may work to reschedule.

This is a fluid situation. As always, call ahead to your airport.

Release from LSU said they may try and play it at the end but probably won't end up happening

"At this time the schools do not have a common open date on which to reschedule the game, so the schools and SEC Office will make every effort to find a scheduling solution with the possible movement of other games on the schools’ schedules."

they could play each other on November 19 by changing their matchups against Presbyterian and South Alabama
