As great as the weekend, I didn't watch one game live, start to finish. Four hours just seems like a huge time commitment, unless I was laid up in the hospital or something.

To be fair, Eastbeckystan may be blocking the WWL.

I must mention Southern Miss coming from 25 points behind to beat Kentucky going away. That sets them up very nicely for a hell of a season. Unless Southern completely shits the bed somewhere (not likely), they'll be 6-0 and ranked when they go to Baton Rouge Oct. 15 to play LSU in as classic a trap game as you'll ever see (right between Florida and Ole Miss for the Tigahs). They've also got both of their only two difficult C-USA games (Marshall & La. Tech) at home, and they won't see Western Kentucky until the conference championship, which would be at Hattiesburg, if everything goes right. No C-USA team has played in a New Year's Six game, but if USM goes 12-1, they'll be there.

Hard to believe this is the same team that lost 23 straight in 2012-13.

Not unless Houston falls off a cliff they won't.

Welllllllll .... If Houston runs the table, and with their schedule that is eminently doable, there is going to be some mighty heavy politicking to put them in the playoff. Although that schedule will also work against them, as it should.

Regardless, Southern is going to get a pretty nice bowl game if they finish 12-1 or better. The rags-to-riches thing is going make them one of those attractive story lines ESPN loves to promote. Of course, USM has a long history of fumbling away those kinds of opportunities and there is a LOT of football left to be played.
