Can we at least give Auburn a bit more slack after a pretty decent (polls say) JaxState team nearly pulled an in-state upset.
This wasn't like, say, Alabama State nearly knocking off the War Eagles.

No. I don't think we can. It was at home. Jacksonville State was a 40-point dog. A top-10 FBS team, at home, should not need overtime to take down any FCS squad.

Jax State theoretically could be a top 3 team in the Sun Belt this year, but if Auburn needed a comeback to force overtime against Georgia Southern, Louisiana-Lafayette or Arkansas State, it would still be mocked.
